New Art Exhibit Opens at Tulsa International Airport

TULSA, OK – February 12, 2020 – A new art exhibit is now open at Tulsa International Airport that features the work of three local artists. Ariana Jakub, Cristiana Prado, and Josh Stout all contributed artwork to the exhibit titled, “Tulsa Artist Series”, that will be on display until January 2021 in the Concourse A Waiting Area, located pre-security.

Ariana Jakub’s exhibit, “From Trenton to Tulsa”, includes a painting titled, “Departure” that is made with wine on watercolor paper, and bud vases that are ceramic with natural objects collected by the artist. Jakub is an artist from Trenton, New Jersey, who currently teaches art at Cascia Hall Preparatory School.

Cristiana Prado’s exhibit features ceramic pieces made of glazed stoneware. Prado is an artist born and raised in Brazil who currently teaches art at Tulsa Community College and Dual Language Academy. Her floral interpretations are shaped and glazed to symbolically fuse inspirations from nature and her heritage.

Josh Stout’s exhibit, “Wild Side Tulsa”, features several oil on canvas knife paintings. Born in Tulsa, Stout uses art as an outlet for expressing his voice and his experiences in life. His paintings are sculpted at a journeyman’s pace by the use of oil and pallet knife. He also crafts bronze sculptures exclusively by hand.

“We are excited to add this rotating exhibit to our list of displays at the airport,” said Tulsa International Airport CEO, Alexis Higgins. “Showcasing our local artists gives our passengers a chance to see what talent Tulsa has to offer, and by doing so we are creating an authentic Tulsa experience for those that may not have the chance to explore while they are here.”

Art in the airport has been a main focus for Tulsa International since 2006, when the Cultural Advisory Group was formed. This group is composed of local artists and representatives of art organizations in Tulsa that develop a strategic plan for incorporating art and cultural exhibits in areas throughout the terminal to showcase local artists, galleries and museums.
