“This is a historic day for Tulsa and Tulsa International Airport. Announcing the airport’s first nonstop international flight, to Cancun, Mexico, is a monumental step for the city’s tourism industry and a springboard for flights to other global destinations. A second new nonstop flight, to Minneapolis, only furthers our city’s connections to businesses and economic development in the Upper Midwest”, said Mike Neal, president and CEO of the Tulsa Regional Chamber. “Congratulations to Alexis Higgins, the Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust, and all city, county and regional partners who collaborated to make this happen.”

Preparing for International Growth

Tulsa International Airport’s new International Customs Facility, designed by Narrate Design and being built by Flintco Construction, is a 45,000-square-foot expansion that will allow the airport to welcome international commercial flights for the first time in its 98-year history.

The modern facility will feature family-friendly spaces, including a mother’s room, high ceilings with abundant natural light, an indoor pet relief area, and beautiful terrazzo floors. Construction is expected to be complete in early 2026 and operational by spring 2026.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency has maintained an on-site presence at Tulsa International Airport for decades; however, until now, CBP has only been able to accept and clear international general aviation and cargo flights.
