TULSA, OK – January 18, 2024 – The 2023 numbers are in, and last year Tulsa International Airport (TUL) had the highest number of annual passengers since 2008. TUL finished with 3,144,567 total passengers last year, which is an 8.8% increase year-over-year, and 4.6% over 2019.
The surge in TUL’s passenger growth can be directly attributed to the increase in seat capacity invested by airline partners as well as the continued resurgence in air traffic in the Tulsa market. American Airlines’ new nonstop service to New York LaGuardia operated for its first full year, proving to be an incredibly popular route for travelers. Airlines also continued to invest additional frequencies and larger gauge aircraft, providing over 420,000 new seats to the Tulsa market. Key markets like Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Washington, D.C., Houston, Las Vegas, and many more saw double digit seat capacity growth in 2023.
“Seeing our passenger numbers above 2008 levels is an incredibly exciting accomplishment for Tulsa,” said Andrew Pierini, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer. “The robust and continued growth of our passenger traffic at TUL is a testament to the strength of the Tulsa market and we look forward to continued growth in the months ahead.”
Airline capacity at TUL in 2024 is currently up 4.2% over 2023, and the airport expects to see continued growth as future airline schedules are released for sale.
