R.L. Jones, Jr. Airport Focuses on Sustainability with New LED Lighting

TULSA, OK – November 19, 2018 – Installation of new LED technology at R.L. Jones, Jr. Airport has recently been completed on Runway 1L-19R. The project, which focused on replacing 84 light fixtures with new LED High Intensity Runway Edge Lights, began in mid-October of this year.

Airport staff was responsible for updating the light fixtures and also replaced the Constant Current Regulator (CCR) with an updated version. The entire project cost approximately $60,000.

All of the equipment replaced will result in cost savings, along with the following benefits:

  • Very low energy consumption
  • Increased availability of the runway due to reduction of maintenance
  • Very low working temperature, resulting in longer component life
