TUL Launches Terminal Music Program, Tunes at TUL

TULSA, OK – July 5, 2019 – Tulsa International Airport launched its terminal music program today, Tunes at TUL, with the kick-off performance from local band Red Dirt Rangers.

Tulsa has a culture that is strongly shaped by the music of local artists. With a goal of creating a unique sense of place while promoting Tulsa’s rich music history and vibrant scene, Tunes at TUL celebrates music from local artists, ranging from red dirt to jazz to pop.

“We’re thrilled to bring this program to TUL,” said Alexis Higgins, CEO of Tulsa Airports. “Bringing the sounds of the city to our airport is yet another way we’re creating an authentic Tulsa experience for our passengers that may not have the chance to explore while they are here.”

Tunes at TUL will take place post-security in the food court area between Concourses A and B. The music series starts today and is scheduled to run every Friday afternoon through the summer, concluding at the end of August.

Tulsa International Airport’s Cultural Advisory Group, a group of local artists and representatives of the Tulsa art community that focus on art at the airport, partnered with the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts & Culture to create Tunes at TUL.

“Every top music city in the country has an international airport with a local music program, and now Tulsa is no different,” said Abby Kurin, executive director of the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts & Culture. “We can’t thank the airport enough for their vision and support of Tulsa’s music scene. Travelers will hear original live music, and in turn, our musicians will be paid for their work while sharing with a potentially new audience. This is a fantastic opportunity that will continue to enhance Tulsa’s music ecosystem.”

Tulsa-based musicians are encouraged to apply through the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts & Culture for future performances during peak travel periods. These travel periods include fall break, holidays, summer and spring break. Musicians can apply directly to Abby Kurin at [email protected].
