TUL and Tulsa City-County Library Partner to Launch New Storytime at the Airport Program

TULSA, OK – August 17, 2023 – Tulsa International Airport (TUL) and Tulsa City-County Library (TCCL) hosted their first Storytime at the Airport this morning. The new monthly event series invites children and their parents to come to the airport to hear an aviation or travel themed story, which is led by library staff. The events are free to attend, and parking at the airport will also be provided free for attendees. Storytime takes place in Schwab Hall, which is located near the rental car counters and the center entrance.

“TCCL is pleased to partner with the airport to deliver Storytime. Our Build A Reader storytimes are led by professional library staff trained in supporting children’s literacy and learning development,” said Jackie Kropp, Tulsa City-County Library’s Literacy, Outreach and Volunteer Services Manager. “Parents learn too as storytime leaders demonstrate how and why to incorporate talking, singing, reading, writing and playing when interacting with your children.”

“We are thrilled to be working with Tulsa City-County library to bring storytime to the airport,” said Stephanie Chester, Marketing Manager at Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust. “We believe that by hosting these events at the airport it will connect children with aviation and hopefully ignite a spark that they will carry with them when they start thinking about their future careers.”
